The Grand Canyon is a majestic place and there is no better way to experience it than a Grand Canyon RV rental. Why drive a couple hours to see the canyon then hop back in the car to make it back in time for dinner.
You have to experience it in its full splendor by exploring all up and down the canyon. Hiking down into the canyon and then back up is no small task and who wants to drive a few hours after doing that. I sure don’t. I would rather hike down and up the canyon and then go to my RV parked nearby and crack open a beer and then take a nap and not worry about driving home. Now that is a perfect adventure to me and not a task or something to just check off the list and go on to the other. I want to experience what America has to offer and have fun doing it.
The big question is where can you rent an RV to experince the Grand Canyon?
You have a few different options:
- Peer to Peer RV Rental
- Cruise America
- Dealership
- Dedicated Private RV Rental Place
Peer To Peer RV Rental
This one is my favorite. There are two that really have taken this category over and they are RVShare and Outdoorsy. They basically have the same concept but they are two different companies. Check out my personal review of RVShare here. This is a great option because you get to help someone out that is trying to make a few extra bucks and you get to choose from a great variety of different RV’s or camper trailers. You also have the option of picking it up in many different locations. I had a great experience with this so I would recommend that you at last check it out. I will warn you to not wait till the last moment to book because you will be sorry because you are dealing with real people and not a big company that is all about the bottom line.
Cruise America
This is another great option but like anything else it has its downfalls. First of all you are a traveling billboaard for them. Their name and phone number are plastered all over it and you have no way of hiding it. What screams you are a vulnerable tourist more than that. People will know that you are a rookie and they will take adbantage of you if you’re not careful. If you do your homework and know what you are doing then you will be good but still watch out. You will be charged premium prices for everything. I actually had a good experience with them but I also did my homework before hand and knew exactly what I was getting into.
Dealership
Being near the Grand Canyon you will find a lot of dealerships that rents out their RV’s. This is a decent option but they tend to rent them out fast and are not very flexible on pickup and return hours. Remember you are dealing with people that are probably paid by the hour so they care only a limited amount. I have also found that dealerships tend to be a little bit expensive. But if you find a good one then why not give it a try.
Dedicated RV Rental Place
You will find online a few places that are a brick and mortar businesses that only rent RVs to people traveling to the Grand Canyon. This is not a bad option especially since they cater to tourists. They tend to be a bit expensive sine they have to spend a lot of money on marketing since all they do is rent. This is a good option but it is expensive.
Overall you have a few good options with my favorite one is the peer to peer option. Whatever one you choose make sure you are careful and have a great time.
