My family and I love to camp. It doesn’t matter where we go or how we do it we love to camp. Some of our greatest memories and experiences have centered around camping.
There are 4 main ways to camp:
- RV Camping
- Tent Camping
- Car Camping
- Backpacking
RV Camping
RV camping is looked down upon by many of the hard core campers and I once looked down upon it also but as I have gotten older and my back has become less forgiving I have found that I love RV camping. Check out my post on RV camping here and you will see my new take on RV or travel trailer camping. It basically is a great way to get into the wilderness or anywhere and still bring a little bit of your home with you. Most people like to be at home and who wold not like to be able to bring it with you everywhere. I sure do. Still it does not matter where you are or what you are camping in, the company you are with is what matters. But if you have 3 children and are uncertain on the weather the RV is the way to go. You don’t necessarily have to own an RV or camper trailer to go camping in one now a days. You can borrow one or you can even rent one from a dealership, from an established RV renting company or from a peer to peer renting website. If you don’t know what that is then check out my post on it here.
Tent Camping
I absolutely love to camp in a tent. You can pretty much go anywhere and camp with it. You don’t need any hookups or electricity. Those amenities are nice but not required. If you are camping in an RV then you are limited to where you can go because not every campground can accommodate one. All campgrounds will let you camp in a tent. It might not always be a good idea but you can do it anywhere. Not all tents are equal so you need to make sure you buy the right type of tent for the type of camping you will be doing.
Car Camping
This can take on many different forms and have many different meanings now a days. It can be as simple as you going to a camp ground and pitching a tent next to your car or you going to the campground and actually sleeping in your vehicle. I have done it all and I do not recommend sleeping in your car unless its a van or some sort of vehicle that will let you stretch out. Now they have tents that you can pitch on top of your car so I guess that can be considered car camping. I have never done this but I really want to try it out and see exactly how it works. Sprinter Van camping is kind of a hybrid between car and RV camping but it’s an awesome way to get out and enjoy camping on many different levels.
Backpacking
This one is my absolute favorite. You basically pack everything you will need for multiple days in a large backpack and you go into the wilderness. You have to be very organized because you have to carry all your meals, clothes and shelter with you on your back. You also have to have a well planned out route or trail you will be going on because wandering aimlessly in the wilderness is never a good idea. This is the most rewarding way to camp because you will get the opportunity to see stuff that most people will never get to see because most are not adventurous enough to go off trail.
As you can tell we really like to do it all and we have done it all and we are not afraid to give advice especially when you ask for it. We are going to be telling you about all of our adventures and stories of camping and we are going to be reviewing some of the products and experiences along the way. Please explore my website as I will be giving lots of good advice along with amazing stories.
